چکیده

The purpose of this study was to determine the changes in the relative Aim: peripheral refractive error produced by soft single vision contact lenses in myopic schoolchildren. 27 myopic schoolchildren aged between 13 to 15 years were Methods: included in this study. The measurements of central and peripheral refraction were made only on the right eye using a Grand-Seiko WR-5100K open-field autorefractometer without contact lens (WL), and with wearing single vision contact lens (SVCL). Refractive power was measured at center and horizontal eccentricity between 35° temporal to 35° nasal visual field (in 5° steps). SVCL showed an increase in peripheral hyperopic defocus at the Results: nasal and temporal visual field compare with baseline, but this change was not statistically significant (p=0.129). Wearing single vision soft contact lenses increases the relative Conclusion: peripheral hyperopic defocus in myopic schoolchildren. Decrease in rate of myopia progression with a contact lens designed to reduce relative peripheral hyperopia: one-year results.

PURPOSE To determine whether a novel optical treatment using contact lenses to reduce relative peripheral hyperopia can slow the rate of progress of myopia. METHODS Chinese children, aged 7 to 14 years, with baseline myopia from sphere -0.75 to -3.50 D and cylinder ≤1.00 D, were fitted with novel contact lenses (n = 45) and followed up for 12 months, and their progress was compared with that ...

Effect of dual-focus soft contact lens wear on axial myopia progression in children.

PURPOSE To test the efficacy of an experimental Dual-Focus (DF) soft contact lens in reducing myopia progression. DESIGN Prospective, randomized, paired-eye control, investigator-masked trial with cross-over. PARTICIPANTS Forty children, 11-14 years old, with mean spherical equivalent refraction (SER) of -2.71 ± 1.10 diopters (D). METHODS Dual-Focus lenses had a central zone that correcte...

Peripheral refraction with different designs of progressive soft contact lenses in myopes

Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the changes in relative peripheral refractive error produced by two different designs of progressive soft contact lenses in myopic schoolchildren. Methods: Twenty-seven myopic schoolchildren age between 13 to 15 years were included in this study. The measurements of central and peripheral refraction were made using a Grand-Seiko WR-5100K open-field ...

Optical Modeling and Analysis of Peripheral Optics of Contact Lenses

Background: Degraded peripheral vision has been hypothesized to be a stimulus for the development of foveal refractive error. Contact lenses have been widely used to correct central vision, but their impacts on peripheral vision are still unknown. The purpose of this study was to use optical model software to evaluate the peripheral optics of rigid gas permeable (RGP) and soft contact lenses (S...

Visual performance after reduced blinking in eyes with soft contact lenses or after LASIK.

PURPOSE To evaluate visual performance during concentrated visual work in patients wearing soft contact lenses or after LASIK. METHODS Thirty-one eyes of 17 patients who had worn soft contact lenses before LASIK were examined by the following tests immediately and 10 seconds after eye opening: 1) functional visual acuity, which is defined as visual acuity measured after prolonged eye opening ...
